We left the house at around 5:10am. Its probably the first trip ive ever had where I did not leave an hour late than scheduled. I guess its only because im with my husband and my inlaws... their always on time! :)
It indeed was a good start. We stopped by 7/11 to get some ice for our cooler. I thought its gonna be longggggggg drive on our way to our first destination which is in kfc for lunch. But the next thing i know, we were there in phoenix. it was 11 am when we got there. almost 6 hrs but it seemed like we just left the house. Probably out of excitement and the energy of the ppl that im with, time flew in just a snap.
The heat of the sun.
KFC in phoenix. When we got off the car, we just cant wait to get in to kfc. It got me worried that our whole trip from day 1-3 will be as hot. Although ofcourse i know at the back of mind that the weather forcast shows its colder in camp verde, sedona, flagstaff and grand canyon. It surely was hot in phoenix but still we had a good meal :) We had a full good lunch for a long day trip. Then we went to the veterans memorial park to visit my grand father in law. It was my first time to be there and its been 12 yrs since my inlaws were there. I guess this part of the trip made us feel good as we have visited a special person. My dad in law was indeed happy to have gone there.
CAMP VERDE HERE WE COME.
the next stop was the Fort verde historical park. The weather was so much better and the place was nice and amazing. The houses were really old and they preserved it well. And i must admit, i got scared. Its quit freaky to be in a place where a lot of ppl died. It was a nice place but it can be a bore also if you are not into history (like me).
Montezuma castle! twas great! we had great pictures there. We walked through the whole park and saw how amazing the indias have lived in such a place. And up to now i still wonder, where did they go?
An hour drive... then there we were in one of most beautiful place ive ever been to. SEDONA!
Note to travellers, you have to stop by the sedona visitor center or any other store to get a parking pass. I was extremely disappointed to see the sedona visitor center closed when we got there. Good thing i asked the resto next door and i was told to get it to webbers (a store). So off we went and had the highlight of the day. The rocks, the mountains, the air, the road, the ppl... everything was just perfect. Ive never seen a view as spectacular as such. Its like a painting yet its real.
chapel of the holy cross. it was very beautiful. if only it was in california, its the kind of church i could have chosen for my wedding :)
Almost an hour drive then were in flagstaff. we passed the oak canyon drive. such a scenic drive. something that should not be missed!
we saw other smaller rock villages in some of the smaller canyons.everyone should
visit ae least once in a life time.
