My wife and I took a 7 day trip to San Juan and the surrounding Puerto Rico. This was to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. It was either this or Key West.

Sat 08/11/07 (day 1)

First Day There

Our first day was spent at the Hilton Caribe. First off the hotel is in need of some renovation. The hilton did have a nice garden where we took a few pics. We were tired from the plane flight over and didn't follow our plan. We just grabbed dinner at the hotel at the Morton's of chicago there. We should have done someting else it was just an average steak for too much money.

Thanks for sharing your time about San Juan. We will be taking a Princess Cruise 1/02/11. We are taking the whole family. All together we wll be 7 adults. I am trying to find a villa type place to stay for a week before leaving on the cruise. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just came from there 2 weeks ago. Is the Embasy Suites on the ocean and is the beach any good there? Sorry you didn't get to Ponce. Shopping much cheaper there. The 'native frequented' restauraunts are good for authentic food and very good value. Glad you spoke of Caribe Hilton. Going back and was stuck on it being the place to stay, now I wonder. Why couldn't you take car to Vieques? My frd sd car is o.k.ferry. I remember when rum at Bacardi was unlimited tasting.:) I grew up on the stuff, Ha Ha Glad u had a good time.

Puerto Rico is and Enchanted Island, Isla Bonita, the people are Very Happy. Xmas is the best time to be in San Juan, especially in the Isla Verde Area where all major Hotels and Casinos are located. We are planning to visit San Juan for my nice wedding in April, she'll be married in the Cathedral Old San Juan the oldest church in Puerto Rico, reception in El Convento not to far from the Cathedral, we are all excited as we always had great memories of the beautiful island. Beautiful beaches and the people are Awsome!!!! Amigos come and visit Puerto Rico for a great stay.

Just came from PR, it was a great time. Unlike other places where you
stay locked up in a resort, there are so many things to see and do in PR. Culebra Island is a must, one of the nicest beaches in the world is Flamenco Beach.Snorkel right on the beach. Rainforest was awesome.
Isla Verde is more of a tourist area, nice beach with lots of activities. Great nightlife in the Condado area. Great restaurants.
Tons of bakeries everywhere. People are very nice, but drive like maniacs. Explore the whole island is my advice.
