Arriving in Branson

Since our total road time was going to be around 8 hours, we stopped in Paducah, KY, on our way out.  We stayed at the Travel Lodge at the I-24/US-60 intersection.  Let's just say you get what you pay for.  Neither my husband nor I were particularly impressed with the property: the pool was green (yes, algae green), we did NOT have Wi-Fi access, and the cleanliness left much to be desired.  In other words, there are many other places to choose from, so don't choose this one.  If you're looking for a roof over your head and a bed to sleep on for a night with few other expectations, go for it.  This is ideal for the budget traveler.

We arrived in Branson, MO, on Sunday afternoon, and our first late lunch destination was a local chinese buffet (I forget the name, but it does say "Mongolian BBQ" on one of its signs) right there on Hwy 76.  The food isn't bad for the price, if you catch the lunch buffet.  We would have gotten second plates, but my toddler threw up, so we left in a bit of a hurry.  Both he and my husband had to go shirtless back to the hotel!

The Wilderness Club put us up in the Radisson Hotel, which is very nice and clean.  The only downside was that breakfast at the hotel isn't included, and the only option is to dine a the Veteran's Cafe.  Their breakfast buffet is on the pricey side: $9.99 per person, although kids eat free with a paying adult.

Didn't do much im the evening, just rested from being on the road for the better part of the day.

Learn the alternative routes. You will get around Branson much faster. There are some other neat places to visit besides Branson in that area. Have you tried College of the Ozarks? They have a grist mill, museum with cheap admission, and greenhouses. It is just two miles south of Branson.
