Leisurely car camping trip around the shores of Lake Superior. We planned to be gone 12 days, but got home in 10... not trying to race, just worked out that way. If we wanted, we could have easily spent 15.

trip start... to Bayfield

Left by 11 a.m... a little late start because of Poodle's great party last night... Dancing the night away to the fantastic sound of Bart and the boys...Yea Backroad!!!! Arrived in Bayfield by 4:30... Stayed at Gruenke's Inn... It was perfect. Casual, comfortable... really friendly folks. We enjoyed visiting with the Russian and Slovakian waitstaff... Engineering students on US "vacation." Had Fish Boil for supper... potatoes, onions, carrots, and whitefish, boiled in butter and water... Tasty!

We're thinking of going to Bayfield, Wisc. (Thimbleberry Inn) in mid-May. Anyone been there? How far from Chicago? I appreciate any info we can get. Have never been up that far in Wisconsin. Thank You.

Was wondering if you new anything around Marquette MI that you be able to go to just for a day. I don't mean things like Sugar Loaf, Presque ISle, etc. i wa wondering something alittle different. Please get back to me. I have my year anniversary next sunday

All in all, this was a lovely trip. Also, it gave us good ideas for other trips that we can do.. just going to one or two spots and more hiking or kayaking.
