
We took off from Minneapolis stopped in Atlanta and on to Milan, Italy. For November the weather was absolutely awesome.
Day 1 (11/3) : We arrived in Milan around 7:30am got our rental car, set up the GPS and headed down to Genoa. We stopped in Levanto to get out and have lunch. We drove through the Italian National Park, Cirque Terre. Gorgeous drive to see the coast of the Mediteranian and some of the cities on the cliffs. From here we headed to Pisa.
Day 2 (11/4) : We toured the piazza in Pisa including the Leaning Tower. From there we drove through Tuscany. Our first stop was in Volterra. From there we toured San Gimignano. We had to skip Siena due to th time. We jumped on the AutoStrade and got to our hotel in Rome.
Day 3 (11/5) : We took the Metro to the Colosseo. We toured it along with the Roman Forum and the Palatine. From there we did a lot of walking in downtown Rome including the Trevi Fountain.
Day 4 (11/6) : Took the train to the Metro and to the Vatican Museum in the morning. St. Peter's Square and the Basillica. Another day of lots of walking to see more sites in downtown Rome.
Day 5:Drive to Florence.Take the open bus tour.Sleep near Florence.
Day 6:Return to Florence park under main train station.(this is right in the center).See Florence.Drive to Venice in the afternoon.Book into hotel in Venice.Park car in big building next to main train station.20 euro for 24 hours.
Day 7:See Venice by water bus.Drive to Sarmione.Book hotel inside the old city.Take a drive along lake Garda.
Day 8:See Sarmione and it's castle.Drive to airport in Verona.Return car and fly back home.Distance driven:1945 km.
This was a fantastic vacation.All you need is a lot of energy.Me and my wife are both 56.Not bad hey!!!!!!!!!
I just discovered yahoo trips. I want to plan a trip for myself and my daughter to Italy in 2009 for her 18th B-Day. I have no idea where to begin, do you have any advise?
