We got on the road as scheduled Satureday the 28th. The tunes were loaded, the truck was jammed packed full, the kids..the dog..we were all set. Our mission was to stop first in Austin for a quick adjustment at our chiropractor and then back on the road to Dallas.
My oldest son, Jordan (12) has recently been playing a new PS2 game called Guitar Heros and it is jammed pack full of classic rock tunes. The first tune that inspired him was Freebird by Leonard Skynnard. We spent a week before the trip hunting down new music to take with us and found a Greatest Hits CD by Leonard Skynnard. Well he changed out all the CD's when we stopped in Austin and guess which one was in the first slot! I have never been a good one for remembering song titles and Artists, so imagine my pleausre and recognizing all the fabulous hits from this group. I really have always liked their music, but never put two and two together.
The trip to Dallas was completely uneventful and we arrived about 3:15, just in time for Leah and Homer to head out to a surprise B-day party. Their son, Christian (4 yrs) was so excited when we arrived after asking all day long, "When are they going to get here" ..and as every parent with young kids knows, thats as bad as "Are we there yet?" We got the 'burb unloaded right away and then everyone dived into the pool.
Homer and Leah had their second child on July 13th and we have made our first stop here to visit and take care of their family. My sole purpose is to provide her support with Christian and the cooking etc so she can rest. Neither of us had grocery shopped before the departure/arrival and their wasnt much in the refrigerator when we arrived but I found a meal of crispy tacos and got everyone fed. They arrived home shortly after that and then we all just sort of bounced off the walls until bed.
i hope you get more enjoy with me
