Leaving and Boston Day 1.

Leaving and Boston Day 1.

Ready for this? Fly out of Sac at 11:30 at night. I watch Blades of Glory on the flight (for the first time... awesomeness) and sleep on and off after that. Arrive in Chicago at about 5 in the morning feeling like I had the worst hangover ever (even though no drinking took place). Briefly stayed in the Chicago airport and reminisced about MJ and the Bulls. Get on another plane to Boston at 6:30. Arrive in Boston at 6:30. We catch a rostafarian cab who was crazy, but nice and he took us to our hotel in Boston. We get our stuff put in the room by about 11 and leave to take the "Freedom Trail". It is a decent day but it is raining when we start to walk Boston. We walk in the completely opposite direction of the Freedom Trail for about 15 minutes (thanks Dad) but finally readjust and stop in this Greatharvest like bread store for samitches. Boston is very nice and sort of feels like a small town with its small quaint appartments and homes yet, it is a big city for sure. We then head back out into the drizzle for the "Freedom Trail".  We finally get to Boston Common, the start of the Boston Freedom Trail. It is a cool park with statues and small lakes. All in all we walked about 4 miles around seeing some of the oldest things in American history including the old Boston state House, the Granary Burial Ground which has the graves of Paul Revere, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin's Parents and the Victims of the Boston Massacre. We also saw old city hall, the Old South Meeting house which was the site of a somewhat famous protest on a tea tax, the Old State House (which was the site of the Boston Massacre), Paul Revere's House, Old North Church (one if by land two if by sea lanterns), and lastly the USS Constitution "Old Ironsides". We then took a taxi back to the Cheers bar on Beacon street for dinner and some beers. All of this was done before 7, at which time we walked back to our hotel room and all fell asleep as soon as we sat down. Today we woke up at around 9, a nice little 14 hour sleep. We plan to take a bus tour today to many of the same places we already saw, but we can learn a little about them and see them in the sunny weather of today. Pictures to be added to the post(s) at a later date.
