The first day in the Brooklyn with Brooklyn Pass!

As a foreigner who haved lived in the  New York City for almost 18 months, I thought that I should explore more in this dynamic city. Living in the Queens and studying in the Manhattan, I did not know much about other boroughs in the NYC.

When I talked with one of my classmates from Brooklyn, I was told that now there is a great way to explore the Brooklyn within two days, Brooklyn Pass. Heart of Brooklyn, a non-profit organization, is offering this valuable pass for only $25 for adults and $15 for kids.  This pass grants me free admissions to the main attractions and many other added values. Another thing is that I don't need to find a ticket booth and waste my time in the long line.  So my friends and I fianlly decided to explore Brooklyn in a sunny weekend.

Our first stop is the Brooklyn Musuem, which is really fantastic. I visited the Metropolitan for a lot of times and was stilled impressed by the Brooklyn Museum. It has more than 4000 objects, and the Egyptian collection is amazing.  I also love the fountain in front of the museum.

Our second stop, Brooklyn Botanic Garden is just next door to the musuem. Since it was June, it is rose season.  The rose garden is very beautiful and romantic and great for couples to spend the whole afternoon.

Then we walked to Parkside & Ocean Avenues to enter the Prospect Park. We rented a pedal boat in the Park's Pedal Boat Dock and got our free luch in the Lakeside Snack Bar because of the Brooklyn Pass! Our lunch had hot dog, ice cream, chips and sof drinks.

After our one-hour boat tour, we went to visit the Prospect Park Zoo.  We spent some time on these animals and noticed that the zoo has some interesting exhibitions. I think kids will really like this Zoo!

Because our visit was in the weekend, we had a chance to take a tour of Green-Wood Cemetery offered by Brooklyn Center for Urban Environment (Remeber! Tour in Weekends only! They have different tours every weekends. Please check their schedul first.)

After one day's tour, we felt very tired and decided to go to a famous local restaurant, Junior's Restaurant.  I love their hamburgers and its No.1 cheesecake in the NYC.  The slice of plain cheesecake was free  with my $10 food purchase because of the Brooklyn Pass.

We went to the Brooklyn Academy of Music after our great dinner and watched a film. We got a 10% off with the pass.  Of couse, you have many other choices, like dancing, opera and music. Don't forget  to check their schedule in the www. bam.org.

We finished our first day in the Brooklyn with great pleasure and decided to explore more in the second day.

I would need a tour guide to visit sites like statue of liberty, empire state building

No, you don't really need a tour guide. Take one of the hop-on, hop-off double decker buses - they stop absolutely everywhere and you do what you want and get right bak on the bus and go to another fabulous place!
