Our first day in Washington DC and we were able to get quite a bit done. We took the Metro from the airport to the stop near our hotel and was able to check in even though it was only around 11:00 AM. Rooms at the
JW Marriot are small but nice.
We ate lunch over at the Ronald Regan Building in the food court, had a good Philly Cheese Steak.

We then walked toward the National Mall area and ran into our first celebrity!
It was Dow Quick from channel 7 checking out the map of museums, we said our hellos and we were on our way. We stopped into the
Smithsonian Castle , which was nice and cool inside and had some odd and end pieces of museum things.
We then headed to the
National Archives to peek at the Declaration of Independence. We were pushed for time so once we lined up and got in, we checked it out and off we went to meet our 2pm rondevous at the
Capitol .
We met our guide at Nancy Boyda's office and went to the capitol with our group. The tour was great and there was lots to see.
We saw a house session, but all they talked about was passing something congratulating the Oregon Beavers on the College World Series this year.
We came back and rested and got cleaned up. Went to eat at
Hard Rock Cafe and then went to see the
White House .
Let my son go swimming at the hotel and called it a night!
