Summer 2007

Hello! It's Monday evening, July 2, 2007 and we have just completed our final schedule for the trip. We were planning to leave this past Friday but some scheduling conflicts forced us to postpone until tomorrow. Hotel arrangments have been made for each location so we will try to maintain this new schedule. The route is scheduled below:

Tues 3rd - Thur 5th,  Branson, Mo. 

We'll arrive early afternoon, check-in to the hotel and scope out the place. Wednesday will be an all day Branson, another night's stay and then move on toward the West.

Thu 5th - Fri 6th, Canyon, Tx.

A long 9 hour drive to Canyon. Not a lot to see on the way so we'll just kick back and relax.

Fri 6th - Sat 7th, Holbrook Az.

Another long day of driving at 7 hours. We'll see better landscape this day in preparation for the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.

Sat 7th - Sun 8th, Prescott, Az.

It's just a 2 1/2 hour drive today so we'll take in the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest along the way. We'll take a short hike to stretch our legs a little and then on to Prescott.

Sun 8th - Tues 10th, Williams, Az.

We'll get up early and head a few miles northeast to Sedona, Az. Lots to see, we'll spend the day here then just an hour further to Williams.

Mon 9th, Williams

Today's the day for the Grand Canyon!

Tues 10th - Thur 12th, LasVegas, Nv.

Just a short 3 1/2 hour drive to Las Vegas were we'll blow all our money, travelers checks, etc and wire someone for more. Probably save just enough to see the Hoover Dam on Wenesday.

Thur 12th - Sat 14th, Yosemite, Ca.

An 8 hour drive to Yoesemite. Should be interesting here since we'll be camping out with Bears and Wolves in the park. Friday we'll hike to some huge waterfalls and see El Capitan and Half Dome.

Sat 14th - Sun 15th, Fallon, Nv.

Just a good place to stay overnight after a 6 hour drive.

Sun 15th - Mon 16th, Ogden, Ut.

Another overnighter just outside of Salt Lake City enroute to Idaho Falls, Id. A 7 hour drive to Ogden.

Mon 16th - Wed 18th, Idaho Falls, Id.

Idaho Falls is only 2 1/2 hours from Ogden so we'll get to see some falls and get settled in. Lots more on Tuesday with another night's stay.

Wed 18th - Thur 19th, Bozeman, Mt.

Just 3 1/2 hours to Bozeman, can't remember what we'll see here right now.

Thur 19th - Sat  21st, Gillette, Wy.

We'll stop in and see the razor-blade factory and get a close shave. On Friday we'll go to Devil's Tower and Mt Rushmore.

Sat 21st - Sun 22nd, Denver, Co.

A pretty good place to overnight enroute to Colorado Springs. Just a 5 1/2 hour drive from Gillette.

Sun 22nd - Wed 25th, Colorado Springs, Co.

Let's see, Pike's Peak, Manitou Springs, train ride up the mountain and white-water rafting. That should be enough here!

Wed 25th - Thur 26th, Garden City, Ks.

A 4 1/2 hour drive from Co, this little town is just outside of Dodge City, Ks. We'll see Dodge City on Thursday and then move on to Missouri on our way home unless we find more to do at Dodge City.

Thur 26th - Fri 27th, Warrensburg, Mo.

A 7 hour drive from Dodge City, this will get us to just east of Kansas City, Mo.

Fri 27th, Home????

It's almost 4 hours to St Louis, Mo and another 3 home. Do we stop at St Louis to let Melissa do the Arch view or not? We'll see!
