Walk Around Town

Saturday...

Today we walked...about 4 miles...for about 8 hours. Boy, are we tired. We took the Metro Blue Line  from Foggy Bottom to the Smithsonian. We went first to the Castle, then worked our way East along the Mall. We stopped at the National Air & Space Museum for several hours. Then we took a break at the Capitol Reflection Pool to watch the anti-war demonstrators get arrested on the steps of the Capitol. Then we stated back. Didn't make any stops on the North side of the Mall. By the time we got to the Museum of Natural History, it was closing time. Will try again tomorrow. We continued along the Mall stopping at the Washington Monument. Then around the Wash. Monument to the World War II Memorial. We walked along the Reflecting Pool toward the Lincoln Memorial  then to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. We walked up 21st past the Department of State, up Virginia Ave., then up 23rd to eat at the Froggy Bottom Pub on K st. Good, well priced food. Chris had a bacon burger and I had a pastrami sub with onions & cheese. Then...finally back to the cozy Best Western on New Hampshire Ave. for a good rest in preparation for another busy day.

Awww, Chris, you can get a Bacon burger anywhere. You need to try the Philly Cheesesteak, or maybe a grinder. Perhaps a good foot-long... hotdog that is?

Sounds like you two are doing a lot, but that place is huge! What great memories! Can't wait to hear about it in person. Your dog is fine - getting worn out playing with Chopper and she even got Donut to actually play toys with her! I'm going to try to call you tonight about 10:00 your time. Have fun!!!

You didn't mentions seeing the Liberty Bell. Were you not able to see it?

Good Photos! But I was curious about a few that did't have captions. Whose desk were the two of you sitting behind? Waiting for the new installment of your trip diary.

No new news since Wednesday and it's already Sunday night. "Lucy, you got a lot of splaining to do." I guess I'd better call you. Hope it's not too late - it's almost 8:00 pm our time. I'm sure you're keeping plenty busy! But I'm worried that you guys are in a carb coma somewhere from all the Dunkin Donuts. (???)

Hey Guy's

It's time to come home and show us all the pictures....sounds like a party!! I'm glad you take time for yourselves. I miss you both!!

O.K., it's "countdown" time for your return trip back home and you're lagging in current news. It'll be hard to get caught up when you return...hint, hint! Maxi-dog misses you - she's acting out. Ed and Jake left this morning to "hunt" for the weekend. They'll return Sunday night so I'll pick you up at the airport. Do you feel gald to live in Oregon ("left coast") after visiting the "right coast?" See you soon.
