In almost 48 hours, I will be flying off to Paris. I really can't wait and am already packed up and ready to go. I do have a few last minute things to pack like my toothbrush, hair brush, etc.
Jody's husband Patrick called me tonight to give me a little advice on how to stay safe and to keep from getting pickpocketed. He gave me some ideas of things I can do and also what to watch for. I really appreciate the help. I have such a naive, innocent look about me that I'm sure I would be a prime target, but I will pray for God's protection and safety, and I'm sure I will be fine.
I have a few concerns about traveling overseas alone. First of all is missing my husband and children, especially baby Heidi. I hope I'm not traumatizing her little baby psyche by having her mommy "disappear" for a full week. I'm also concerned about getting through the airport with my luggage and no help. We'll see how that goes. I'm excited that I am able to take a bunch of American stuff for Jody and her family, but I am worried about managing all of it until I can get it to her.
that's all for now...
Your journal and photos are lovely. Thanks for sharing! My husband and I are heading back to France next week for our 7th visit. We will spend a few days in Paris and then on to Provence by train. It was wonderful to hear of your positive experiences with the lovely people of France. We have also enjoyed making new friends with each visit and look forward to retiring in this area on day.
A note to the critical one regarding your photos at the Louvre...most cameras used today are "digital" and do not require a flash. I found Debra's journal and photos represent her respect and admiration for Paris and its people.
I've been to Paris. It's a beautiful city filled with history and art. I remember being asked not to take photographs while visiting the Louvre, because the 'flash' would damage the integrity of the original paintings; including the Mona Lisa. I complied with that request. How did you manage to take photos of the beautiful art without compromising the integrity of those beautiful paintings? Or, did it matter to you? That's why the world hates Americans. We feel we can do whatever we want, even when we are visitors in someone else's country.
