Arrived Panama City, stayed at Country Inn and Suites... top floor + ocean view= worth it!
Right on Amador Causeway, view of the ships heading up the canal... drive down Amador for some nightlife...
reasonable fish dinner at Mi Ranchito ....
boat to Taboga just further down ...
Walking around Casco Viejo in the morning,
Miraflores watching the boats pass through the locks in the canal and lunching on empanadas,
El Cangrejo for dinner ....
,
GAMBOA RESORT (we stayed in the resort for 3 nights): Monkey Boat Tour... Aerial Tram to Observation Tower... Butterflies & Serpentarium... swim up bar for drinks and lunch.... escapes to resort library to play chess.... nightly buffets or the restaurant both have exceptional food and wine and desserts .... must visit the marina restaurant for their fish casserole and ceviche where you can also see the turtles, birds and alligators right over the porch... amazing resort and nearby small town with Smithsonian research center.
there also as a soldier and i went back 5 yrs ago! AMAZING. i have been back each year since and love it. from a rather small, intimate country to a massive place of sooo much. it is as fast paced as you like or as low keyed as you need. (all the country is within a short flight or drive) i enjoy driving because then i can stop and peak around corners or snap a great photo whenever. you should hop on a flight and return. when were you there? regards, pepi
