Panama City, Panama 2007

Buses are affordable and usually on time. A bus halfway across country with air conditioning will cost about $15 and take 11 hours, from what I remember (that is PC to David).

Driving conditions are third world in most parts, and roads are not always well developed. Most outside the city are dirt roads in poorer condition. Use your discretion wisely.

Going to Panama with boyfriend for my birthday. We want a cultural experience and time to relax on the beach. If you visited a place or stayed somewhere that you loved, please let me know!

My mom's side of the family lives there and i was also born there so i usally go there every two years since i moved from there. i just went the past summer of 2007 and it was one of the best vacations ever!!!!

Spent a week in Panama in 2001. Of 3 S.American countries visited at that time Panama was my favorite. Have been trying to get back ever since. We saw so much but so much more to see! Easy as money same as US and language no problem. Many different cultures. Two oceans and mountains and forests. Something for everyone. I wonder why more tour companies do not offer Panama. Maybe I am ahead of my time as it does seem that Panama is becoming "discovered".

We're on our way to Equador and since we have to stop in Panama City we might as well try to get an overnight layover. Any recommendations on must sees? Of course the Panama Canal. Anything else we can do in a day? There is a flight with an 8 hour layover but I'm not sure it's enought time to see the Canal and some of Casco Viejo

i love the city madly i can die for it i think its most beautiful city in the world i cant wait to go again and again it was wonderful tie that i spend there i would love to stay there forever

When is the best time of year to visit panama? What else did you love about Taboga Island? Do you know of any areas where someone would take me fishing and crabbing? I'm hoping to visit sometime next year to celebrate my 30th birthday and want to know what to expect. Any other info you can offer would be great! I'd also like to know if going alone is a good idea. I won't be driving though.

I didn't see an answer to driving alone. I am a woman and will be traveling alone. I plan on first going to the Avalon, then to Playa Blanca and then to Gamboa Rainforest Resort. I will be traveling for 2 weeks and am planning on renting a car. Any thoughts on the subject. If not driving--how is the bus service. I appreciate any info anyone can offer.
