Sat 06/23/07 (day 1)

AZ arrival

We arrived in Phoenix and were surprised by the heat. I knew it was going to be hot, but until you feel the blast in your face you do not have an appreciation for how hot. The only mishap of the whole trip was getting a flat tire 30 minutes after picking up our rental. Since it was Saturday afternoon, we had to turn around and head back to the airport to get a replacement vehicle.

We drove up to Sedona for our first night. I was blown away with how beautiful the red rocks are around Sedona. It was breathtaking!

Sounds like a well planned trip! I am planning a trip for my husband and I, we will spend time in Arizona, but also want to go to Moab, Utah. Sounds like it's a lot of driving around to hit some of your sights!

I really enjoyed spider rock, the town of Chinle Az and canyon dechey..Was a very well spent time just talking to the Navajo people. Most are willing to share some of there experiences with you and give you a lot of information you would not find in books, only living day experiences. It was also interesting watching the women weave rugs. Lots of time and work go into making a rug.

I will be back for another visit soon. Wish everybody the best of luck and health.
