Día 1 - El Viajo

Today was nothing but long flights and excruciating layovers.  We flew out of Tijuana at 0005 and didn´t manage to get even a wink of sleep on the flight to Mexico City.  After the first 2 hours or so of waiting we were basically zombies.  The next 6 hours of waiting are a sort of blur. I remember walking the length of the terminal several times and also the hour long wait in the line to get checked in.  The airport itself seems non descript, slightly delapidated, but overall decent.  The main downfall, it seems, of latin airports and cities is their lack of public seating.  If you want to sit you need to go somewhere like a food court or a shop where you are likely to spend money.  I managed only to get an hour or so of sleep through quick naps in the airport.  The next stop was Panama City and once again sleep was very difficult on the airplane, although thankfully the agent checking us in took pity on us and gave us emergency exit rows for much needed leg room.  Aircrafts just aren´t built with the comfort of people over 6´ in mind.  Stepping off the plane in Panama, we were greeted with a sticky wall of humidity.  The airport there gave me a nice vibe and the people seemed very friendly.  This time it wasn´t the lack of seats that gave us discomfort... it was the lack of food!  There was only one restaurant in the entire international departures area.  The 2 hour wait in Panama seemed to pass very quickly compared to dragged out zombiefest that was the 8 hour wait in Mexico City.  When I step onto the final plane my heart speeds up in anticipation of Peru.  We arrive in Lima the next day at 0015 awake, but exhausted.
