UK and Beyond

The boyfriend, his friend and I are going across the pond for some friends' wedding celebration which will be in Cambridge. So we're off to London first and heading to Edinburgh and Amsterdam after. Wish me luck!

Fri 07/20/07 (day 1)

9 Days to Departure

I am pretty sure that by Friday my co-workers will want to kill me for saying, "By this time next week I will be...". And it will just get progressively worse as next week rolls by. Oh well, I'm going to London!

Matt, Patrick and I will leave SLC next Friday morning around 10 in the morning. We have a bit of a layover in Atlanta, plenty of time to get through the international terminal and all the extra security they will most likely have for those heading over to the UK. We are scheduled to land around 10:45 the next morning at Gatwick.

We had dinner with our friends from London last night to figure out when we are going to be meeting up for drinks (the boys' main concern) and if we should plan any other outings while we are there together. We didn't get too much accomplished, but I think we got enough to satisfy the fanatic planner in me.

I'll start packing tonight. It's never too early and I really want to make sure I have every thing I need. Wish me luck!

if weather will be the comment of every travellers,i think it shuld be nice to backup my lovergirl too if there is chance for any,and put on a raincoat possibly guird my self with an external support wich may seem to sound very funny,but thats true becouse backingup someone will show the excitment of life.

Isn't South Kensington amazing!?!?!?! I went to graduate school in London and lived in South Kensington. I loved it and dream of living there permanently one day. Oh, and to anyone who hasn't yet departed for London but will be going shortly, word of advice, by what is called an oyster card for the tube. Get to know the tube online and figure out what lines you will need to get to your hotel and the maps on the walls in the tube definitely help. Well worth it as you save money and more importantly, you look like a local and won't become a target. The Oyster card you just simply swipe on a magnetic reader and go through down to the tube.

We are in Edinburgh right now and it's wonderful. A lot smaller than I was expecting. But seeing as how we were in London for the past week, any city would be smaller. To Helena... I planned the 14 attractions in one day as they were just things that we were interested in seeing and the bus tour that we took that day drove us by all of them. The ones that we really wanted to explore, we just went back to another day. It seemed to work out quite well. Especially being with 2 boys who just aren't all that interested in seeing "everything" like I wanted to. And thanks for the umbrella tip! Cheers!
