We drove in to Niagara from Columbus , OH and arrived around 4:30pm. We checked into our hotel on Clifton hill and decided to walk down to the falls to look around before dinner. I was very glad that we did because it was the clearest view of the Horseshoe Falls during the trip. Something that no one had mentioned to us was the view of the falls depends greatly on the humidity and how much mist is held in the air. Our first day was rather dry and slightly warm, so it was perfect for seeing the falls. We walked the entire distance of the river walk along the Canadian side and back the changed for dinner. We had reservations at the Revolving Dining Room at the Skylon Tower at 8pm. It was a very warm elevator ride up, but the view in the dining room was worth it. We got there and the sun set all throughout dinner and by the time we ate dessert the sun was down and the falls where lit. Beautiful!! Dinner was fine, but of course expensive...I think it ran $50 a person plus drinks....plus Canadian Taxes, which where crazy, about 25% of our bill...I guess that's what happens when you have universal heath care!!! :0 Just kidding, but that was a big surprise of our trip...taxes added ALOT to our planned budget, so decrease your budget by 20%...more if you drink alcohol, it get special taxes! But if you are ther on a romantic getaway, the Skyon is a great slurge
After this, we went to the newer of the two casinos on the Canadian side, the one right next to the Skylon. It was very crowded and had few gaming tables, which is what we like to do, so we didn't say long. We walked back to our hotel and stopped by the casion down by Clifton Hill. We thought this was a much nicer casino than the other, I recommend it...we even went back on Sunday evening!
