Every summer our friends from Holland come to visit. We try to plan things that are within our limits and this year we have decided to take the train beginning in Anaheim, California and ending up in Seattle, Washington. We always have a great time when we are together and we are looking forward to some fun times.
We arrived at the Anaheim Station around 7:45am. Anna and Jim dropped all eight of us off. The train was 15 minutes late getting into the station. We had a hard time finding seats together because there were so many commuters. We arrived at Union Station Downtown at around 9:00am and we had to change trains and get on to the Coast Star Light train. This train goes all the way into Seattle, but we decided to break up our trip and get off in Paso Robles and Eugene.
When we boarded the Coast Star Light we were given the handicapped section with 12 seats. We were in total denial and just knew we were in first class because of all of the room. We were also very close to the bathrooms. and Mike made it his personal mission to remind everyone to close the doors when they were finished. Big Fun.
The ocean view was amazing. We occupied ourselves in many ways. I kept busy with my CD's learning to speak Dutch, the kids played games, watched movies or just enjoyed the view. Harry made great use of time at each stop getting off and having a quick smoke. We thought we forgot him once, but he was in the bathroom.
The snack bar man was an angry fellow. He had just gotten back from vacation and let us know it! The food choices sucked, so we worked on consuming all of the junk food that we brought.
We arrived in Paso Robles at around 5:00pm. We had pre-arranged a taxi, but it never showed, so we called the hotel and they sent over a van to rescue us. The driver, Ed, gave us a quick tour of the city and showed us places within walking distance to eat. We found a great steak house, McClintoks, not sure on the exact spelling, but it was delicious. Harry wanted a 20 ounce steak, but order the special of the day, a 8 oz steak. Actually we almost all ordered the special and we were so full that we ended up giving Harry our left over steak and we figured that all the left overs added up to about 20 ounces.
We ended our day at the pool and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was so hot that it was hard to get in. Harry made us laugh so hard because he put one toe in and could not stand the heat. By the time he inched his way in, we were ready to get out.
It is just after ten and we are exhausted. Let's see what adventure tomorrow brings.

It was so much fun reading about all of your adventures. Trip highlights for me so far are 1) trying to get Harry his 20 oz. steak, and the creative result you came up with 2) imagining your gang wandering around the park with all of your luggage 3) the bathroom performances 4) just all the fun and great memories you are creating with your friends and family. Thanks for sharing with me.

We just got back from the Solvang area where we celebrated my Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary, thus explaining my Avatar.
