A lightning trip round Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, via the Hoover Dam. Then driving to Yosemite, San Francisco and Anaheim (Disneyland) via the coast road with an overnight stop at the Kon Tiki in Pisimo beach.

24 hours to go

Well we leave tomorrow by Maxjet from Stansted. God bless the car bombers, I am anticipating a long wait at the airport.

Anyway I seem to be packing everything but the kitchen sink and my hand luggage is going to need a forklift to get it into the plane. Technology sure weighs a lot!

Been checking the weather web sites and the temperature in Yosemite is forcast to be 109^o F. Not sure what that will feel like. Certainly a lot more pleasant than the seasonal British rain we’ve had so far this summer. Lots of sun screen and insect repellent to be packed.

I’m now the only one in the group doing the Mule ride in the Grand Canyon and from the reports of friends I think I may be walking like John Wayne afterwards, despite the padded cycling shorts.

Leaving in under 24 hours so better get the packing done.

Hey Kevin (AKA "TR King")...Just returned from the Grand Canyon ourselves, and I can recommend without hesitation that the next time you consider a trip to the West, you ought to give the GC another try-but this time at the North Rim. I was strolling-completely by myself-on the Bright Angel trail at 7 AM a few weeks back. 65*F, bright sunshine, the Canyon and not a soul to be seen. You could then add on Zion and Bryce Canyons, both of which are well worth the trip (although both are a bit more difficult to find isolation in). Thanks for another brilliant TR! Dan
