A trip from May 26, 2007 to June 16, 2007, travelling to Los Angeles, San Diego, Avalon, Ensenada …

A good friend and I are going on the trip of our lives in late May. The 20 day countdown has begun and it is extremely hard to wait until we start our journey...
Sorry, I can't give you any advice, but I have more questions. Once you've driven from one place to another, could you post the hours of your journey here as my friend and I are going on a similar trip next year and in order to plan it, we need to know how long it takes to drive from one place to another. Thank you so much
We are travelling from Santa Barbara on June 1st toward Las Vegas. We would like to drive through both the Mojave Desert and Death Valley. We have however been advised against Death Valley because of the heat during the summer.
Does anybody have advice regarding a nice short "route" in Death Valley that will allow us to get the experience of the place without us having to drive forever in the heat?
We have considered to postpone Death Valley until we leave Las Vegas on our way to Kings Canyon National Park on day 13/14.
We are however not sure how to get from Big Pine if we drive through Nevada instead of California on route 266 to Big Pine. On the map it seems like we have to drive all the way around?
Another option would be to drive to Beatty (Nevada) on 266 and follow 190 to the Death Valley Junction and continue to the hot springs in Tecopa. Then just drive to Tulare as planned. Would be a long driving day, but I guess it would be worth it?
