Beale Street Music Fest 2007

This was our second trip to Memphis .  We visited Memphis during the Beale Street Music Festival last year and decided to go again this year.  Last year we were able to visit a lot of the attractions that we wanted to see (Graceland, Sun Studios and the Rock and Soul Museum ), so this year, we decided to hit attractions that we didn't visit last year.   As a side note, once we returned from our trip this year, I did some research on the city of Memphis and apparently Memphis  has a pretty high crime rate, which was news to me.   During both visits to Memphis , I never felt any danger or saw any indication of crime, but perhaps it was because of the festival and maybe there were additional police officers present.   Anyway, we left Chicago at about 3pm on Thursday and arrived at our hotel at about 11:30pm that evening.   The drive was long, but uneventful.  We kept looking for a Starbucks, but they are few and far between.  We did find one in Effingham, which we had found during our trip to Memphis last year.   Check-in was quick, however, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone...but more on that later.  We basically checked-in, got settled and went to bed fairly early to prepare for a busy few days.
