We flew Alaska Air from Newark, NJ via Seattle to Vancouver. We used miles to buy the tickets otherwise would definitely recommend trying to fly direct non-stop.
Getting through customs was absolute HELL. Everybody in the world decided to vacation in Vancouver on this exact day. It took one hour to finally get through.
Booked reservation on Perimeter bus "Whistler Express" to Whistler ahead of time on their website. They were very organized and arranged the luggage by hotels and left on time.
The ride went through downtown Vancouver so got a little a sightseeing of the city. Began as quaint wooden houses and northwesty looking shops but quickly turned into modern glass highrises straight out of Hong Kong. As soon as we passed by the lovely looking Stanley Park we got on the Sea-to-Sky highway and were headed up to the Coast Mountains. The scenery was pretty spectacular with a sheer cliff on oneside headed straight down to the ocean and jutting hills on the other. They were unfortunately widening the road for their 2010 Olympics so the construction caused delays.
We arrived at Whistler Creek first and the bus sort of turned into Super Shuttle at this point, dropping of people at different hotels. Our hotel of course was the last one because we were in Whistler Village.
We got dropped off at the Delta Suites because our complex The Town Plaza was next door. We stayed in the Deer Lodge on the second floor in a studio suite that we rented through the owner at resortac.com. Suite overlooked Village Stroll, the pedestrian only street with shops and way to get to the gondolas.
We stocked up on supplies at the close-by IGA supermarket and cooked dinner ensuite.
