Kevin and I have booked our flight for Germany. We're so excited to attend my brother Scott's wedding...it'll be the event of the year! We will be taking advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime trip and visit with Kevin's cousins in northern Germany (Hildesheim to be exact) before the wedding. Most of our time in Germany will be spent in/around Ulm (approximately 6 days) for my brother's wedding...after which, we'll be concluding our vacation in Switzerland to visit with Kevin's brother Markus!
Our flight leaves the United States on Thursday evening, September 20th, and arrives in Hamburg, Germany on Friday morning, September 21st. We'll be staying with relatives in Schellerten (near Hanover) for four days, visiting with cousins and touring Hannover. Then it's off to Wullenstetten (near Ulm/Neu-Ulm) to meet up with my family. Thankfully there is enough time before the wedding for us to tour Munich and attend this year's Oktoberfest (1.5 hours from "homebase")! If we're lucky, my future sister-in-law's "connection" will get our family reservations at a table in the biggest and best beer tent at the festival!
Other than that we're going to go with the flow, visit Stuttgart one day and bum around Ulm/Neu before Saturday's festivities (a.k.a. the blessed union of Scott and Steffi), ha ha! Unfortunately we won't be around much after that, we leave for Zurich (Switzerland) Monday October 1st, but we'll make the most of our time together I'm sure. Then it's back to the good old USA on Friday October 5th.
