So windy today and so darn cold! 40 degrees!! After scortching hot days in the 70s and 80s, today was a really bad disappointment. Forget the beach, so we left 2 hours later than scheduled. The trip down there was only a two hour drive and it was actually pretty nice. We knew we wouldn't be able to hit the beach this day so we decided to hit up the Aquarium first.
MILITARY-FRIENDLY!
To our surprise, because we're a military family, our price rate went from $60 down to a mere $16 for the ENTIRE family!! WOW! Talk about supporting your troops! THANK YOU to the Myrtle Beach Aquarium Center! Nice place, but real short. Not worth $60 if you ask me, so glad we got that discount!
STARTING LINE EAT-UP!
For lunch we stopped at the NASCAR Cafe where racing fans and car fans alike enjoy the laid-back atmostphere. My sons were seriously enjoying the area and the wait time was not bad at all. It was so windy, the Speedway was closed at the time, but we still were able get our own bit of racing done inside at the arcade.
Once settled in out Hotel at the Mariott on 21st Avenue, we headed to Broadway at the Beach for another round of entertainment starting with the popular MagiQuest!
If you're anything like my family, we're MMORPG fanatics. We play computer games like World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, Evequest, and awaiting the highly anticipated Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning so, if you are familiar with those games, then MagiQuest is right up your alley. It's a LIVE computerized RPG system where you get to create your own wand and choose your own character name. Then your wand is put into a computer system and you are given quests to complete.
As you complete these quests, you gain XP or experience points which are then tallied into your own personal wand and can be traded outside the game arena for toys or prizes of various sorts. Now mind you, you will not be able to complete all the quests, but save your wand for your next visit and all your XP is still in the computer and will continue from where you left off.
GREAT edutainment for critical thinking, patience, teamwork, and problem solving skills.
The line was VERY long, about a 50min wait, but a very fun family-oriented event.
Later that night we slipped into our room with the sounds of Fireworks and a baseball celebration right next door! It was very fun!

If any one is interested ,we have a brand new town house in the community of (The Glens in International Club). It's huge. Around 1800 sq feet. And It cost less than a hotel room . You have a kitchen ,so you don't have to spend all that money eating out. It's about 3 miles driving to surf side beach. And about 5 miles to Myrtle beach. Please check it out by googling: SOUTHERN COAT VACATIONS and then look for my property THE GLENS INTERNATIONAL CLUB .
