I flew into Buffalo, NY late the first night to meet a college friend then we drove across the state to Pawling, NY (6 hours) in the dark which where we stayed for the week.
After driving all night we crashed most of the day 2 but drove to the Danbury Mall in Connecticut that after noon for some shopping.
Day 3 she showed me all the local sights and showed me all the places she had talks about all the time but i had never seen. We also went shopping in Fishkill, NY on our little tour of the New York backroads.
Day 4 we set our early to go to Woodbury Commons outlet stores.
Day 5 was our NYC day. We road the train into the city, which was a bit of an experience to me since i had never really ridden a train before (except like the monorail in Seattle) but it took us like an hour or so to get into Grand Central Station, got to see a quick view of other parts of NYC while we sped by them, (Harlem, the Bronx, ocean...). Grand Central Station was great... I've never seen anything quite like it, very busy!! From there we went shopping in that whole Manhattan area, Times Square, the Fashion District... Saw Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Radio City Musical Hall. After all that shopping we went to dinner at Olive Garden overlooking Times Square. Then we went to the broadway play -Rent. It was amazing, I didn't know if i would really like a broadway show but I really enjoyed it. We then had to make it back to Grand Central ASAP so we didn't miss the last train out of the city to get home. Luckily we made it!
Day 6 was another lazy day... just hanging out and catching up since we hadn't seen each other in almost 4 months. She showed me around her little town (actually its called a 'village' how cute, i expected NY to less rural i guess) and a little more local sightseeing. Sally Jessie Raphel has a house there, as well as Trinity Pawling Prep...
Day 7 we went into Poughkeepsie, of course shopping again, and we went a movie there too.
Day 8 we were back on the road headed to Buffalo, drove all day long on the NY thruway and i finally got to see the rest of NY in the light since we didn't leave Buffalo until about 10pm when i had gotten there and it was atleast a 6 hour drive. We stayed in a hotel that night since he dorms were closed for spring break. We went up to Niagara Falls, Canada for the evening to go out to dinner, have some drinks, and see the falls from the canadian side. Had a great time!! We made it back across the border just fine (together we have the worst luck going over the border and not getting searched).
Last day I flew out first thing in the morning to head back home.
