Countdown started!
Only 58 days 'til departure! I'm getting anxious already. I'm pretty sure I can handle all the driving, as long as the new Wrangler holds up. Plans are starting to get firmed up. The kids are looking forward to Disneyland almost as much as I am. Rita and I are going to hit a bunch of Hard Rock Cafes on the return trip - after Chicago, there aren't any along Rt 66 until we get to Los Angeles. New Orleans will be interesting, and I'm very excited about going to Washington, DC. I still need to work on the schedule a bit - I'd like to have an extra day on the return trip in case we fall behind. Coming home a day late is out of the question, since day 30 is Benjamin's birthday.
It's almost unreal - my dream vacation coming to reality. I'm sure when I get home, one of two things will happen: either I will say "never again" or I'll start planning next year's trip!

I've been looking forward to this road trip for a long time. My daughter and I will be traveling Historic RT 66 to Los Angeles. We have twelve days to do this, then my husband and son will fly out to meet us there for a week at Disneyland. Still working on getting the dates straight for each city on the trip out... Haven't really planned the return trip yet, other than a 2-day detour in Vegas. We're considering staying south and driving through as many states on the East Coast as possible. Hoping to fit in a day or two in D.C. as well. Suggestions Welcome.

I recommend going to Oatman, it's close to Kingman, and they have an old western show. It's pretty cool there. Beautiful drive also =) You'll have a blast on your trip, enjoy it!!
