We arrived in Rome at 8:15am, we had a great flight, but we were a little disappointed with the Rome (FCO) airport. After winding our way through countless corridors we got to the rental car facility and after getting our car and setting up our navigation system we were off. We traveled up A12 through Civitavecchia , Grosseto , and Livorno to Lucca . The drive was long and tiring especially after flying for 13 hours, but the scenery was awesome, huge fields of sunflowers, at times spectacular views of the Medditerrean Sea, many vineyards, and the trees, shrubs, and flowers were all blooming at this time. We are staying at the Hotel Ilaria, personally I would recommend this hotel to everyone, We had our first Italian dinner at Il Giglio, we walked through a lot of the old town, what a great nite, the weather was in the lower seventies, the nite was clear, and the food was awesome I highly recommend the veal. I tried a local red wine (Fubbiano I Pampini) which was recommended to me by the waitress, it was spectacular. After dinner our waiter took our picture and toasted our honeymoon with us using another excellent wine (Moncucco) which Trish really liked. We then walked back through the old town back to the hotel. What a great first nite in Italy .
