Mon 03/19/07 (day 2)

Arrival in Hong Kong

After 17 hours of travel, we finally arrive in HK where we find Lisa and our mountain of suitcases. The flight was fairly uneventful except for the series of UFO's which flew along with us just before we reached Honk Kong. (seriously! 12 lights in formation which the pilot had not seen)

Tired and hungry, we found a shuttle to the hotel at 10:00pm and grabbed some japanese noodles at a nearby restaurarnt. The hotel is okay but they overcharged us for the room so we used this to get a free upgrade to a regular room. What they called a "superior room" turned out to more like a "jail cell" with barely any room for our suitcases.

Wow! What awesome sites. And I see you guys are not having any trouble finding somewhere to eat, although it does appear much of the food needs to be cooked!
Glad to see for myself that you arrived safely. And it appears to be warm weather there. Continue to enjoy and post pictures for us poor folks back home. Mom

yeah - we have been eating a lot of yummy dim sum. The weather has been good but a little cool (60's) until today. Hainan Island is much farther south and significantly warmer.

Beautiful hotels! I had not expected to see such lavish settings, thinking most places you visited would be crowded, gloomy-looking. So, these pictures really paint the scene of what you are experiencing. Keep them coming. Mom

In October of last year I was on a night flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong for business. I woke up in the middle of the flight to see VERY bright lights below us. I struggled for a while to figure out what they were and it has been bugging me ever since. Tonight I decided to "google" and your trip came up. Still don't know what the lights were, but your posting really gave me a chill so I thought I'd post.
