Getting to SFO
I actually interviewed for a new job the day we were to leave for Iceland. Our flight left roughly at 11pm, and I was interviewing until almost 6pm. I stopped by my Sister's house to let her shave my head (the less hair the better for this kind of trip), and ate a quick dinner at her house. Then my sister, Mom and I hightailed it to my condo where my girlfriend was putting the finishing touches on packing our backpacks. We picked her up quickly, and rushed to SFO. My girlfriend and I said out goodbyes to my Sister and Mom, and we checked in at the ICELANDAir counter. We were not 2 full hours early as they recommend, but it was ok as they gave us our boarding passes and we headed to the gate.
We waited about 90 minutes to board the plane, but it seemed like an eternity. I was so anxious and excited, and it doesnt't help that I am also a little scared of flying.
ICELANDAir flies a very old Boeing 767, which did not make me feel any better. I noticed each seat still had ashtrays, I assumed this plane to be at LEAST 20 years old.
Oh well, fire up those engines and let's get to Reykjavik!!
Yu described achurch and a crater of turquoise water etc. etc. which wetted my appetite for the photos but sadly there were none that I could find.
Thank you for sharing.
