Once we arrived in Puerto Vallarta we went through the lovely "mexican security" (red light- green light). I was a little worried about getting stopped and being searched there but we managed to make it through with no hassles. My friend pushed the button and it was green and the security guy waved us both through- yes! Then we wandered for the front of the airport and found the bus that our group was taking to the hotel. As soon as you stepped of the plane you could feel the humidity hit you - I loved it, it wasn't too hot and really felt like we were in paradise!
We got to the hotel and checked in the CasaMagna Marriott in the hotel district. It was easier than we had thought, not speaking their language and all. They didn't have any double rooms so we ended up with a king and a pull out hideabed, but that worked, we had a beautiful view of the pool and the ocean.
After we got there we had orientation with the USA student travel staff to give us our wristbands and free t-shirts and all. After that we found some food at the sports bar in the hotel and headed off to the Zoo a ways down the street for a night of partying.
After sleeping off the hang over from the night before we headed out to the pool for some tanning and poolside drinks. Then a group of us went for a walk to find a little convience store down the street to buy some bottled water and other goodies.
Later that night the bus took us down to Senor Frogs for dinner and we stayed for some dancing all night. What a crazy place! We walk in and they poured shots in our mouths!
The bus picked us up and took us to the waterslides (Splash Parque Acuatico)! So much fun!! Definatly a mexican waterslide, you could take your drinks with you where ever you went! Some times you've got wonder about their safety practices in Mexico, but regardless we had a great time!
we decided to venture out more into town today, we took the city bus to the melecon and went shopping at all the street vendors and saw the public beach. This place was so much fun! We stopped at Hooters on the beachfront since it was one of the few places in PV that served go old american bud light! =) After buying some suiveniors (blankets, shot glasses, strongs...) we went to the Hard Rock cafe to split some nachos.
We then headed back to the hotel zone where we hung out by the pool somemore and then went upstairs to get ready to go out to dinner. We went to Carlos O'Briens great food, a
nd stayed there to party the rest of the night. This was such a fun place!
We headed back downtown today to walk around and see the arches, the cathedral, and all of that now that we mastered the bus thing.
We went to Christines discotecha that night which was fun but the drinks were expensive and way too "cluby" for us Montana kids so we headed across the street to check out the little outdoor mexican bar across the street. The best part of it was they had drink tickets 10 for $10. We had a group of close to 30 so we were our own little party, the place had white x-mas lights outside as well as hanging outdoor lights, and a swing hanging from a tree all out the backdoor with plastic lawn furniture, and speakers hanging from the outside of the building. haha- guess thats how we all like to party! Best little bar in Mexico!! (and very good drinks)
Lighten up give these folks in PV some respect, your in their country fool.
