This restaurant is horrible...I've been there numerous times to eat and the fish smelled bad, no one speaks English and it's bad service. I've worked in the restaurant business for several years and this is by far the worst Sushi/Hibachi place ever! The hostesses are terribly rude and the staff is just as bad, not to mention that one of the hostesses gave their number to my fiance when our bill arrived. I also know one of the servers who says he spits in the food.
I hate this place!!!
Have been with both friends and family several times since shortly after they opened, this is the best place in Mountain Home for a date, or office party, or to impress out of town guests. We have done all of these plus my teenagers always want to come for their birthday dinners! The food is great, the hibachi chefs are entertaining and friendly, and we have not ever had any problems with any of the staff.
I really do not understand where the bad reviews are coming from- I have lived in several large cities, and am pretty picky- it just doesn't get much better in Mountain Home than Yoshi's. It would be pretty hard to spit into food that is prepared right in front of you, and the soup they serve is clear, so... I don't see how it could happen!
Great place- you should go!
My job requires me to travel throughout Arkansas so I've had the opportunity to experience restaurants ranging from friendly hole in the walls to elite steak and seafood houses. Like any other patron, I expect good service, decent food and satisfactory customer service.
Lets start off talking about the service. A group of my coworkers and I are currently staying in Mountain Home and after hearing about a Japanese steakhouse being in the local area, we decided we wanted to have dinner there. The restaurant is new and clean however it is evident that they lack in quality employees. Our table's waitress was very uncomfortable and rude. She seemed frazzled when we asked her for more time to place our order and she became more unpleasant when asked to repeat what she said due to a lack of understanding. Our hibachi chef was young and unexperienced, the food is highly overpriced for the small portion size and the 'entertainment' was minimal.
A coworker and myself ordered from the sushi menu. I started off requesting three rolls, one (the green forest roll) of which was from their daily special sushi menu. The waitress had told me that they are no longer offering the green forest roll for the day because the owner said to stop accepting orders for it.So I changed my request to the crazy monkey roll. This roll's content list stated smoked salmon, cream cheese, mango inside, avocado and mango sauce on top. When I received the crazy monkey roll, it only contained cream cheese and salmon on in the inside with sliced avocado ontop an the entire roll was drenched in sweet mango sauce. This roll is HORRIBLE. The flavor of processed sugar and artificial mango flavor in that sauce dominated all other flavors associated with the roll, I couldn not consume more than one slice because it was so distasteful. I requested the waitress take the roll back and just requested an additional californian roll. Originally, she opposed sending the roll back until I told her I did not want the roll at all. She had a californian roll created however she said her boss told her to charge me for the more expensive crazy monkey roll instead of the californian roll replacement. Yoshi's version of the californian roll is bland and not worth $5. The fish in my alaskan roll was frozen when received and the sauces used are overbaring. Overall my experience at Yoshi was not worth the $20+ bill and the service was less than satisfactory. If you are looking for a good sushi roll in Mountain Home, go to Bamboo Garden and if you're in the mood for a variety of asian dishes, Dusit Thai is my preference. Both places have friendlier service, better food and have stood the test of time.
Worst restaurant I have ever been to.
I am well traveled, and know good food of all cuisines. This is by far the worst place I have ever eaten.
I ordered the sashimi platter, my fish was old and smelled horrible. One pieces was so full of sinew as to be inedible, another was full of Bones! I ate 1 full piece from the plate. I also had ordered a separate dish of ikura, which was also so old it was inedible. I went to speak with the manager, he sat playing on his computer the entire time I was trying to explain why I was displeased. Very rude man, seemed angry with me and brushed me off with a 10% discount! I tried to explain that I was unable to eat any of my meal and was ignored.
Be warned, not only is the food terrible, the management doesn't care and will disregard any customer concerns. My companion was actually violently ill for hours after eating there.
Never, never, never patronize this establishment if you value your health and hard earned money.
This restaurant gets one star only because there are no -stars possible.
Have eaten here several times since they opened. This past week ate lunch, the shrimp were small and very tough, even had them reheat them ,still very tough. The scallops are very small now. They must have changed seafood providers, they need to change back.
I LOVE Yoshi’s. It is so much better than chain hibachi places! The meal is always delicious, service is fantastic, and the cooks are always talented and fun! It is a great place for birthday dinners because they sing to you and bring you dessert it is also a good place for prom dinner or big groups. This time I got the shrimp and scallops. YUM. My family got the steak and chicken which they said were phenomenal. The sushi is Great too!
Great sushi and hibachi! Friendly staff and all the fine foods of the larger Japanese Steakhouses! I drive 45mins to eat there. Only downfall is how the serve their food. Very strange and never done the same way twice. All in all 5 stars!
Lets be frank there is nothing great here. The good points, the food, the show, the space. The poor is the wait staff. And the bad is the Tempura Shrimp, or the bad could be that the wait staff wrote fried shrimp on the ticket and claimed it was Tempura shrimp. I asked him once and he claimed it was Tempura shrimp, even though the Tempura Calamari had a completely different batter. His response was that he saw the chef put the Calamari in the batter bowl, then the chef put the Shrimp in the same bowl but for some reason the shrimp just comes out different. Like fried shrimp I thought, and do they just use the same batter bowl for everything? No no no I thought they probably used the same bowl for both orders, Even if one is tempura calamari and the other is fried.
When he came by for the check I asked him again and his response was the same. When he came back with the change i gave him one last chance to fess up or blame the kitchen, when I told him that having traveled Asia and Japan that this was the worst Tempura Shrimp I ever have had, and honestly they should take it off of the menu because it was that bad. He just shook his shoulders and said he would tell somebody who spoke English about my suggestion.
So, sorry Mtn. Home it looks like another great restaurant isn't. Or the English speaking staff is not trained to wait, and because no one is managing the floor they are secretly running the place by not telling the chef or owner(s) about kitchen problems. Sadly if these mistakes are not corrected this place will be gone.
How this restaurant fail to number twenty on the best restaurants in Mountain Home is ridiculous. They have a great looking restaurant both inside and out. Their food is fantastic and it is not a buffet. Which means the food is cooked right after you order it and it comes to you hot and ready to eat. The prices are high but if you want and care about quality not quantity it will truely be worth the sacrifice in time and money. It would make a good first date impression and show that special person you are with how much they mean to you.
