WOW! I was looking around for a different place to eat as Chili's and Sonny's get's old but it's so close to work. WOW! Competely surprised, totally happy, I found my new place to eat and I don't think I'll ever get bored b/c their menu is big enough. Crab cakes, big and delicious, chicken noodle soup was wonderful and the fried pickles were yummy. My two co-workers ordered the Patti Melt and were very happy and I ordered a mushroom swiss burger that was cooked just right. The place looks great has a huge bar, I can't wait to go again.
Fun New Place in Auburndale.
Enjoyed a luncheon at the restaurant on a week day.
Positives: A fantastic ladies room that is worth the trip to the eatery for itself. It's an oasis. (*I bet the mens room is a pit with a hole in the ground!)
The decor is fun and kicky Americana style and the tables are all sturdy wood, reminding one of the table you might have had at home as a child. The cash register is awesome and a work of art unto itself.
The food is excellent. Our kids had the children's steak for $8. It came with fries no veggies but they thought it was great. I had the salad bar with a delicious home made not from a can chicken noddle soup. It had marvelous cut up celery cooked just to the crunchy side and wide noddles. Yum!
Somewhat less than positives:
Not really negatives, but:
The wait staff was very lax. There were only 2 other tables occupied, but we had trouble getting our glasses refilled and he forgot my soup.
The salad bar was ok. It's summer in Fl, they should have tomatoes on the bar, but the only ones I saw were in the greek salad. Also no low-fat salad dressings. The mushrooms were super fresh so they made up for the lack of tomatoes. Plus I thought the lettuce was hand cut/pulled. It should have been pulled/cut more. It was hard to load on the salad plate. I know picky picky, but you come to expect little squares of lettuce on a salad bar, we're spoiled that way.
The menu is a bit.... pricey for Auburndale. I know .... Inflation the cost of business, etc. But $18 for an evening meal in Auburndale is a tad up there. The lunch menu was more in line with the $10 a head rule of thumb for eating out on a lunch break.
The outside is a BIG turnoff. It looks like a joint. But inside it's beautiful. I suggest you check it out.
I also did take out meal which was excellent delicious and most important of all - ready to go when we were.
I vote to revisit in again - at lunch.
