False Island Wilderness Lodge, Sitka

Who was this captain of yours best trip? I was there in 2007 and aside from catching a limit of silver salmon in under 20 minutes everyday the youngman put us on nice sized halibut one weighing over 150 pounds.

This was my first time to Alaska, I highly reccommend the lodge to anyone that likes to really fish. Everyone at the lodge was fantastic, I truely can't say anything bad. All the other clients at the lodge were great and our Captian was fantasic he worked from sun up to sun down. When we arrived at the airport they met us and from there everything was first class. My long time friend reccommended False Island and it was worth every penny. Food was great and my experince was better. I'll be back next year.

I have been there 2 years in a row. Each time the fishing was spectacular and the food was great, not a good place to lose weight. They stuff you with food! The area was incredible, bears, whales and wildlife all over the place. I liked that they processed the fish right in front of you, froze it and sent you home with your catch! It is more than a fishing trip, it is an experience since we are out in the wilderness with no one else around. Great trip, can't wait to go back.

I have never been to the lodge,I worked at False Is. from 1974 thru 76.It is an awsome place to live and the fishing was fantastic.We set our crab pots out on the log rafts and have a feast back at the cook house with the fresh catch.All I can say is that it was the best time of my life and will love to go back soon. I have never been to the lodge, but I loved living there when it was a logging camp. We moved there in 1973 and lived there until 1976. I loved "killer rock", the king crab, fishing, the school, gym and there is nothing better then looking out the living room window and seeing the ocean. Loved it there and would love to go back again.

I agree with the Seaside contributor! I have never been to the lodge but lived at False Island from 1971-1976 when there was a logging camp there. The most beautiful place to grow up. Great fishing, great scenery...very idyllic.

my grandson and i spent 4 nites there in august 2005 and can hardly wait to get back again this year. excellent staff, food, lodging, equipment ... you name it and it was great! my 12 year old grandson caught a 95 pound halibut and i caught one which weighed 180 pounds. largest one caught that day was 255 pounds! besides catching halibut every day, we limited on coho every morning.
