Great way to relax and see parts of Maine's coast!
By Brandon H, 06/19/09
We had not planned to go sailing but our hotel recommended it so we chose the Olad. It was a great choice because it was one of the highlights of our trip to Camden!! Captain Aaron was fun and very open to answering our questions. We got to see a seal and a porpoise. But mostly it was fun to just be out on the water and enjoy relaxing! Some even got to help put up the sails!! i would reommend this to anyone who wants to go out and go where the wind takes you!! You even get a free photo of you and your family on the boat to take home!! It was incredible!!

No better afternoon.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/08
We look forward to an annual trip to Camden and no trip would be complete without an afternoon or two on the water with Capt. Aaron and mate Abbie on the Olad. We have tried others in the past, but now go straight to the Olad. Aaron is a congenial host, knowledgable seaman and interesting source of local color. Look forward to being with him this June. Captain Aron and his crew make you feel as you are part of the family... It is a great experience for the whole family, call in advance to make reservation. Thanks

Avoid Schooner Olad!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
I strongly recommend avoiding Schooner Olad and choosing one of the competitors (I have heard that Schooner Surprise is an good cruise). If you are planning a windjammer cruise, and thinking of using this business visit their website. Here are some misrepresenations. 1) The captain and crew do not love to answer questions. When asked about what wildlife we were going to see, he spoke for about 5 seconds then resumed talking to a small group from the ship. 2) What you will see... you see one lighthouse, no other vessels, visiting yachts, no maine rockey coastline, no mansions, marine wildlife, seagulls, bald eagles, whales, lobstermen. 3) Where you will go... pretty much nowhere. Certainly not Lincolnville Beach, other lighthouses, thousand islands, etc... No offer to let passengers steer the ship , no soda or water were offered to anyone... We told the b&b where we stayed about our experiences and they contacted Captain Lincoln from the ship. He told them he was going to notify us in a day or two to apologize and discuss our experiences. That was over a month ago. The captain lacks any customer service skills, and unfortunately does not make good on the promises that the website gave, which induced us to choose this windjammer. We were VERY MUCH looking forward to taking the trip, but were sorely disappointed. I learn a lot from the internet about traveling, and write positive reviews on true finds. However, I wanted to let others know about our experience, so people can make an informed decision before spending $ on this. The website promises you will have fun on this ship I can almost guarantee if you choose them, you WON'T Greg

Gorgeous Afternoon Sail
By Etienne, 10/05/05
My friends and I had a couple hours to kill on a beautiful summer day in Camden. What better than a sail on the schooner Olad? We paid for the tickets on the Public Landing right in the center of Camden and got aboard with 15 other passengers. The crew explained the safety features of the ship as we motered out of the harbor and raised the sails. With just enough wind to cool the summer sun we skimmed across Penobscot Bay within reach of Islesboro and Vinalhaven before we returned for a lobster dinner right on the dock.
