Not really worth the money
By EmmeJ, 01/17/09
I rode at Sandy Point Stables for three months and found it to be one of my least favorite stables, ever. Though the facilities and the horses were top notch, the atmosphere was very up-tight and stuffy and the assitant instructor's attitude was horrid ie: screaming at a young rider after she didn't place at her first show (The rider wasn't me, it was just an incident I had the displeasure of witnessing). I have heard that this assistant instructor has since left the stables, but their extreme rudeness turned me away from the place permanently. On top of that, I also didn't enjoy the attitude of the other riders there, especially the ones who rode in the rated shows and boarded there. They all had the habit of glaring at you as if you weren't worthy to be there just because you couldn't afford a $50,000 show horse like them. I eventually began riding at Glen Farm Stables, just down the road from Sandy Point, and had a far better experience there, with nothing but good things to say about the place. But I digress; if you are looking for a quality place to ride with friendly people and a family-like atmosphere, Sandy Point is not that stables. Save yourself some money and grief and go to Glen Farms instead.

Horse camp that is not
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/08
The stables are beautiful, as is the land. The horses are top quality. As a horse camp, though, so far, there is much to be desired. The lead counselor is rude to the children and remarkably impatient. There are only two horses available for 7-8 children, meaning the kids get very little riding time. Four children groom one horse, meaning each child does very little. Most of the time, the children do nothing. This is not what we have experienced at other horse camps, which have been the reason my daughter fell in love with riding horses. So far, this camp is not worth the money.

Good instructors.

a little uptight and stuffy. Staff was great, but made me feel like I needed a high dollar horse to fit in. That I didn't like. Qualified instructors and good lesson horses made it worthwhile.
