I have been to GM 4 times love it . I loved the food it was just enough for me I feel so good when I eat Balanced meals .. The classes are fun but not enough advance classes, I found them a bit easy . I love the hikes Vermont is so beautiful , I hate waking in the first day (Sunday) everyone just stares at you then immediately Questions you UGGHH .. But overall its great to get a jump start on your program ..
Green Mountain at Fox Run changed my life! I lost 60 pounds thanks to their philosophy and program and have kept it off. Green Mountain is not a fancy place but is the best at what they do. Green Mountain at Fox Run is a place to go if you want to have a better, healthier life. The food is amazing and the woman only policy makes it relaxing and enables you to focus on yourself exclusively. The Program works and has drastically changed my life. The setting is breath taking and they begin teaching you how to take everything you learn home with you from the minute you arrive. Well worth the money and time!!
The food was way beyond my expectations. Who knew healthy eating could be so delicious and inviting. The staff was exceptional and really committed to seeing everyone succeed. The all women environment made it really easy to be myself and I made some wonderful friends.
This is the best place to go to take care of yourself. It's a true mind, body and spirit experience that leaves you lighter in more than just pounds. The program is so easy to take home and everyone is just a phone call away after you leave, so support is always there.
Vermont is just beautiful and the location could not be better for walks and spectacular views no matter what time of year you go. There are a huge variety of activities and you can choose what you want to do.
All around the best place I've been to improve my health and well being.
I had checked into several other places and dollar for dollar this is much more for much less. Green Mountain is truly an inclusive price so make sure when you are checking places out that you find out what the "extras" are. By far the best value.
Planning to go back again with a friend. This is a terrific place to go with the girls when you decide to get back in shape, or simply to adopt a healthier way of eating, thinking and being.
First off, to the person who whined about not being 'allowed' to eat a candy bar, really? That's silly. Also, you're allowed to eat whatever you want off grounds, but people go there to completely be surrounded in a place focused on personal health and well-being, and learning to eat better. I'm not really sure how people could be hungry here, either. I was rarely ever hungry unless I worked out particularly hard that day, and you are allowed extra protein at meals if you really think you need it, you just need to talk to Robyn(the nutritionist) about it. Not sure how the rooms were 'dirty', mine during my stay was perfect the whole time, and no, they aren't huge, but it's not a hotel, is it?
I spent one month there in 2008 and flat out, it was the most amazing experience of my life. Amazing trainers, nutritionists, therapists, everything. Yes, people go to lose weight, but you gain SO much more, being some place to feel accepted and unjudged, and go there READY to work your but off and ready to give your 100% effort to do nothing but focus on becoming a healthier person without dieting all the time.
While I /want/ to give the value a 5/5, it is expensive, but it is worth it. None the less, I know that price is a major thing for well, just about everyone, so I have to be honest on that front.
Rooms were dirty, cramped, and needed repair. No heat. Scummy outdoor pool a half mile up the mountain was closed. Skimpy bland food. Three hours or more of exercise per day left me feeling sick and weak. Programming is humiliating for anyone who is not already fit. Staff was callous and left people behind of they couldn't keep up. Don't waste your money!
I came for a month, realizing that I needed that time to make what I'd learn habitual. My room is comfortable (including the bed, but others don't like their beds) and kept clean. They are in the process of updating/redecorating. The pool leaves a lot to be desired (lots of bugs and spiders float on the surface and the bottom is rough in places) and the tennis court is a joke. But the quality of the staff and the provided classes and activities far outweigh those minor details. I highly recommend Green Mountain.,
The behavioral, eating, and fitness programs are absolutely excellent and I feel much healthier and more in control of my weight and fitness. However, I am not sure I would come back, primarily because the accommodations are so sub-par and because I do not feel that I am receiving good value for my money. Green Mountain is more expensive than a 5-star spa, but the rooms are akin to Motel 6, with lumpy beds, really cheap and old linens, and very noisy rooms in which every sound is carried -- be prepared to be awoken from footsteps above you and every time someone opens a door or a drawer. When you're working out 5 hours a day, it would be nice to come back to a comfortable room and bed, but it just ain't happening here. Also, you are charged extra for everything. Want a printout of the exercise program? Only available if you book a consultation with the fitness expert, at an extra fee. You do not get even a single consultation for the $2000 to $2500 weekly fee. You must pay extra. Want a couple of crackers at night? Be prepared to pay. They claim this creates mindful eating, but surely there are other methods of insuring mindfulness than a 300% markup on snacks. With a little more attention to the comforts of their participants, this would be a great place. But for the money, you might do better elsewhere.
I've been to Green Mountain at Fox Run about 10 times over the last 20 years. This is not a luxury spa, but it sure does the job of making me feel great. I first came after I was diagnosed with diabetes, several decades ago. I know what I learn at Green Mountain has helped me stay well and kept me from gaining weight. But forget all that healthy stuff. I always have a good time. I love the people I meet, I love the staff, I love Vermont. This time I went up for comedy week -- which meant we spent a lot of time laughing -- and I can't think of anything better for your health or your soul.
I had a one year goal to regain control over my body.I was a really slow starter to make change and I know that slow integration of new ideas is how permanent change is made for me. I can cook steel cut oatmeal without a recipe now.
I just completed that full year of being "out there" with all the information I learned after a one month stay at Green Mountain.
THE RESULTS ARE IN
normal blood lipids with decreased meds.
normal blood sugar
increased mental clarity
an overall feeling of well being
42 pound weight loss
size 20 to size 12
I feel like am 16 instead of 61
