Rusty Nail Bar & Grille, Stowe

We are in town for a weekend and decided to try the Rusty Nail for a quick-ish bar/pub dinner with some local beers. It was relatively quiet, people were dining but certainly not even close to full. We were greeted right away told someone would be right with us then staff walked past us for over 10 minutes. (Chatting by the bar etc.) Someone finally addressed us said she was going to clean a table, left us standing for another 5 minutes or so. We were finally seated (with a number of clean tables around us). Servers were friendly, just very slow beers took over 5 minutes, the water that we requested with the beers never arrived. We both ordered burgers, they sounded great in print but didn't deliver much, not bad just not impressive. They forgot the bacon on mine,but brought it when I asked ;-/ My husband ordered fries and got about 20 small shoestring fries - it looked like less than a child portion, they were good but for a $10 burger we expected a little more for fries. Looks like it might be great for live music and partying at night but we won't try it again for dinner, too many fantastic places in the area.

My friend had driven past the Rusty Nail a few times over the last 2 years and had always wanted to try it. We walked into the poorly lit bar and found a place to sit. After waiting 15 min for our beers, they finally arived...in warm glasses and to top it off the beer was flat. When we mentioned this to the waitress we recieved glasses of water. The water was highly chlorinated and tasted like cold pool water. Highly frustrated with our visit to this point, we they got around to giving us menus. The menu consisted of aprox. 4 different appetizers and 8 entrees...all were over-priced and had little variety. We ordered wings on the recommendation of a person who was staying at our hotel. After waiting 45min for 2 orders of wings, we were brought 2 small plates which had about 10 wings on each. The small wings were pretty good, but was definitely not worth the 10$/plate charge. Needless to say we asked for our bill and left to find a halfway decent place to eat a meal. So if your looking for flat beer, undrinkable water, terrible service, and a small over-priced menu, this is your place.
