Sterkfontein Caves, Mogale City

Situated approximately 12 kilometers/7.5 miles north of Krugersdorp, and a stone's throw away from the Hekpoort road, the Sterkfontein Caves boast an awesome spectacle of stalagmite and stalactite formations. Guided tours take visitors past these and other limestone structures as well as a large underground lake. A popular spelunker's paradise, the caves are also the home of much celebrated recent discoveries of human ancestral remains, which are some of the oldest in the world.
