St-Michel Quarter
Description
This quarter, built around the eponymous Gothic basilica, is the most lively and colorful in town. In the past, flat bottomed barges (typical boats) carrying cargoes of wood cast anchor at the foot of the quarter. The wood was unloaded and went to feed the workshops of carpenters on rue de la Carpenteyre and coopers on rue de la Fusterie.
