Senior Safari Day
Free to all senior citizens and their loyal escorts, this day at the Oregon Zoo is filled with entertainment. The mid-September event includes free admission to the park, train rides, live music, animal chats, hands-on exhibits and a petting zoo. The Elephant Plaza is the center for the event, providing the background for a fun-filled day. Grab your grandma or girlfriend and head down to the festivities. You won't be disappointed with what you find. Please visit the Web site or call for event schedule.
No benches. It's really difficult for many seniors to stand and walk a lot, and this zoo is tiny but crowded. It ended up my guests (over 65) and I (50 years) had to leave before we saw much because we had to stand so long. It would be very helpful if there was a couple of benches at each exhibit for those of us who cannot stand and wait, and who get tired easily.
Other than that, it is an average zoo. We did enjoy the Oregon exhibit, as those animals may be common but rarely seen in the area.
