This was a Great Restaurant, very clean and really good food. I've been there about three times and enjoyed it everytime . The servers are very polite no bickering with the kitchen help and everyone acts very much like Adults are suppose to act.
After searching we discovered if you just drive down Buena Vista Blvd in The Villages, Fl. to the end of the new Brownwood town you'll end up on 44. Turn R and only go about 1/2 mile and there it is on the left. It will have access via golf cart which will be nice but you'd better have gas.
It's a nice little restaurant. We went for dinner and the food was good and we found it to be as good as Golden Coral. It's very cute inside with a strong country motif. Couple behind us said they think that lunch is better than dinner but we were pleased with dinner. She did say she thinks lunch is til 4 so it would be interesting to get in for a late lunch and see how the menu changes.
We do plan to try breakfast and lunch.
I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile as I liked the name and was looking forward to some good ole country food. I was highly dissappointed! I have had better fried chicken at KFC! Although I'm not a fan of Golden Coral, I would go there before I would eat at the Specked Butterbean again!
I enjoyed the food. the service was extreamly great, and very friendly. i tryed the veges, and founf them to be very southern, and enjoyed the dessert bars. i would highly recommend it to everyone. it isnt like the golden corral, they are commercial, and the other seemed to be more at home and family orrented. will most likely make it my eating place. the breakfest was awsome as well.
I happened upon this restaurant during an out of town trip to visit family. We happened to stop in for what turned out to be a wonderful lunch. Delicious fried chicken, okra with stewed tomatoes, full salad bar and an assortment of desert of which I especially enjoyed the apple fritters. I was so impressed with the food that I went back the following morning for breakfast which was equally as satisfying. My only complaints aer that the sail shakers, or at least the one at my breakfast table, are corroded and need to be replaced and the restaurant's website does not list the hours of opperation.
I have been to this rest. many times. It is starting to go down hill. Green beans yesterday had a taste as if sterno, or lighter fluid or some petroproduct had accidently found its way into the beans. Told the waitress she shirked it off. Advertised baked chicken yet it was baked turkey thighs heavy and tasteless. Bring back the limas, butterbeans, ham plus leave the fried chicken alone. It is not greasy and has a good taste. Please taste the food before putting it out. If someone had paid attention to those greenbeans and potatoes they would have been in the garbage. Dont let a good thing close up. A place that usually had a line at the door on Sunday and Fridays even in the off season is going to h==l in a hand basket. The choice of desserts. Red devil cake is white cake and food coloring. Icing was good. cobblers except peach was dry as well as the bread pudding a scope of ice cream would have been an asset but of course the ice cream machine is still not working. Macaroni and cheese was excellent. Need to put back the choices of vegetables and bread. Not everyone can eat corn corn bread. The greens were good. The salad bar was fine. Our waitress with black hair in a pony tail could us a course in how to attend to her tables. She never asked how the food tasted after I told her there was something wrong with the beans. Her comment oh and turn around on her heels and leaving the table was not sufficient. We were there at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and there were only 4 tables with any people at them. Sad. When you started out you had a terrific restaurant. Food was always good even with a good variety on days during the week that differed from day to day. Your waitresses received good tips because of the way the attended to your customers tables. I normally leave a 30 to 40 per cent tip; I did not yesterday. I think I have explained why. Please clean up your act. I miss coming to your restaurant 3 times a week because it was the only restaurant other than the corral that served decent veggies and meat. Lure me back in ..........please.
The Speckeled Butter Bean is not only worth the 10 bucks it is worth any wait you mat encounter, They do have some minor issues when super busy but it is all fresh hot and good old southern cookin. I think there is a little thing they could do different, self seating! All in all its almost like going to grandmas!
I have been to the Speckled Butterbean many times and I have never been disappointed. I have read others reviews and I have worked in the restaurant business so I know you can't please everyone all you can do is try and that the Butterbean does well. The food is awesome and the service is excellent. I suggest everyone trying the butterbean the next time you want go out for dinner, lunch, or breakfast.
This place opened with a real bang. It was wonderful. So good that the next week we took some guests - spent the rest of their visit apologizing for our poor judgement. It had gone to hell !! Much of the same items Golden Corral has but golden collal is better (if you can believe Golden Corral is better than anything) with a much larger selection. We will not be back.
