I visited cabbage beach August 2011 and the beach was beautiful. The weather was perfect and the waves was just right . I had a wonderful day and would love to go back every year if i could. I went to the beach by myself because my family,(girls getaway) wanted to go shopping and that's not really my thing, I absolutely love the water and the beach was my perfect get away. I didn't have any trouble in the crystal clear water except for a five foot fish swimming around but it wasn't a shark so i was still happy. I only wish my children ( all boys ) who paid for my trip was there with me.

This beach is like Cabbage.. one step is one feet down. I was standing with my family at the sea shore and waves pulled us in. I was almost drowned as I was searching for my daughter.. They took me to ER and that where I heard every year several people die here. I spent $8000 to recover but thank god everyone in my family got out safe. Good luck to you and your family if you are planning to visit here. Spend few dollars and go to some better beach..

My husband and two teen daughters had a great time on this beach. They rented jet ski's and had so much fun. My family is used to the ocean. We started our kids very young teaching them how to swim in the sea and competing in swim meets. They know the dangers and what to look out for. Some folks do not realize how dangerous the ocean can be. It doesn't matter where you are. Do not swim if you do not know how. This is a beautiful beach, walk down and sit in front of the hotels. It does not matter what island you go to the locals will try to sell you anything! They are poor. Just smile. And realize how fortunate you are.

I was on the beach and saw the incident, and tried to help with the resuscitation, I did not see any lifeguards, there was a boat close to the jet ski, maybe that had lifeguards on it, but they never came to sure to help with the resuscitation, so I think not. The young people running the Jet Ski didn't have a clue of what to do.. EMT took forever to come, really bad situation. For some reason, the Jet Ski didn't right itself; it was upside down for a long time which made me get concerned, also, his life vest was to small for him. I'm really sorry for your lose. The incident has made me think more about the safety of the beaches I visit, I never thought of reading a review of a beach before, but I will in future after seeing all these comments.

My friend died on thanksgiving day 2011 Jet skii flipped. very sad story. Life guard was able to save his son in time but not his dad. GP you are a very good man R.I.P Dangerous waters please avoid this beach.

I have personally not been to this beach. I had a good friend die at this beach on Thanksgiving day 2011, in a Jet Ski drowning. I don't have the details yet, but ironic that others warn of dangerous conditions here. The beach is beautiful but the current is terrible. The waves are huge and there is an under tone that would pull you out to sea. You could be in water up to you ankle that water would drag you with vengance. Thanks to some of the natives who rescured my daughter and myself. If it wasn't for the careing native I would not be here to write this. Unless you are an excellent swimmer do not go in the water.

This is an extremely unsafe beach if you get in the water. My wife was knocked down by a wave and separated her shoulder. She is now going to have surgery in a few weeks. The undertow was terrible. It is a beautiful beach but getting in the water is not safe. I weigh about 270 lbs and was tossed around like a rag doll. Beautiful water and sand, just not safe in the water.

IF THIS REVIEW CAN SAVE A LIFE, I WILL BE SO GRATEFUL. THIS BEACH IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE! When I went in 2008 with my two small children, my son was playing with his ankles in the water and a large wave came and ripped him out into the ocean. When we tried to rescue him, waves took both my husband and I under too. Thankfully, his life was saved by the most amazing young stranger. My son was hospitalized in the ICU for his near drowning. We re-live this awful event constantly. Please DO NOT go here- save yourself heartache! There is no signage indicating the strong currents and there is a deep drop in the water. DO NOT GO!
