Gaylords Indian Restaurant, New Providence

The most famous name in Indian food comes to the Bahamas at last. Touted as the "only restaurant of its kind in the Caribbean," Gaylord's offers a savory alternative to standard Bahamian fare. Dine on Indian favorites including Korma, Nan and Samosas. A perennial favorite is the Tandoori meat. Glazed and then cooked in a clay oven, these dishes are savory and juicy without being too foreign. Housed in a century-old Bahamian home just off Bay Street, the restaurant is elegant and slightly tinged with the exotic. Indian sitar music plays, and knowledgeable servers glide through the dining area.
