Montagu Gardens, New Providence

Montagu Gardens was recommended by a very nice Lady that I met while playing in the wave of of the gorgeous Paradise Island Beach Club. First we were treated to a free ride, over the bridge without being asked for the dollar toll. We got to ride with some other people who had eaten at Montagu Gardens and said it was good. Well we got there and my first impression was wow this isn't going to be cheap! We sat down were greated by the friendly wait staff given our menu's and to my surprise, a nice variety with some of the best prices I have ever seen in the Bahamas! The food was absolutely delicious and the desert was even better. All done and quite full the bill with tip just over $50 for the two of us. That will feed only one at some of the other places. Then the free trip back with Oscar the best driver ever! He is quite entertaining. Can't wait to go back and save another $70 and eat like a king. I deffinetly recommend this to everyone. Casual dress is fine just skip the tee shirt. Ladies no dress needed.

i'd rather buy an overpriced hungry man tv dinner at city market... horrible food, worse service and TOURISTS; wall to wall. go to the fish fry instead.

Loved the fact that a shuttle bus picked us up and dropped us off from our Hotel (Comfort Suites)at no cost. The meal was terrific! I had the grouper that was delicious and some of my friends had steak and the crab cakes. We all enjoyed it very much. We went back again on a Friday night where there was live entertainment. We all gathered at the bar after dinner and enjoyed the music and friendly bartender.

My wife and 2 friends picked Montagu Gardens from a dining guide. The free shuttle was a nice touch but the food and service were dissappointing. 3 of us ordered the crab cake appetizer. At $6.50 for "lump crab meat" how could we go wrong? I could not find minced crab meat much less lump crab meat in the deep fried mush provided. This was followed by an oily Caeser salad that I could not finish. I tasted the conch chowder. My friend thought it was too spicy but I liked it. I also enjoyed my blackened grouper but the home fries were again disappointing. The two wives ordered the crab cakes as their entree but they brought them as an appetizer thus ensuring we all ate at different times. There were only two other tables occupied in the whole restaurant. How difficult can this be? While we love the Bahamas and will go back, one has to be prepared for the indifference or surliness that the waitstaff can exude. Our waitress was indifferent. I never saw an expression or heard much more than a mumble from her during the meal. Not worth the effort in our view.
