Poop Deck at Sandyport (The), New Providence

We have eaten at both the Original Poop Deck Restaurant (on East Bay St.) and the Sandyport Poop Deck, and we by far enjoyed the Original one more! The location of the Sandyport Poop Deck is lovely, with Beach access and a nice patio/bar area, but we found the food to be a bit different. The chef really liked his garlic! Which unfortunately rendered the food inedible for one member of our party...a small amount of garlic is a nice compliment to a dish, but every item smothered in it is a tad overwhelming :( The Original Poop Deck has Bahamian influenced dishes, and while the location is a bit off the beaten path, the atmosphere is far more enjoyable!

20th Anniversary and my wife's B'day too, and we are vegetarian !. But in spite of all these, the experience was great and the Chef prepared 2 seperate excellent vegetarian dishes that were truely out of this world ! really with Asian seaweed from across the world. Seaside diniing recommended and Staff's service is beyond par ! Thanks Frankie !

We took a honeymoon vacation to the Bahamas and found the Poop Deck in one of the local dining guides. The guide described a special beach side dining experience which I made reservations for. When we arrived at the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised of the appearance of the dining room, and were promptly escorted out the the beach where they had setup a romantic table for two. The table was nicely set and a dim lantern was setup along with a table candle for lighting. The setting was very romantic and we were expecting a very nice time. Unfortunately, the pleasant experience stopped there. The service to our table was horrible! The waiter took our drink orders and returned quite a bit later with the drinks and to take our dinner orders. After taking our dinner orders that was the last time we saw him for the next 45 minutes. We sat at the table on the beach the whole time with nothing but bread and a single glass of wine and he still had not water poured in our glasses. Another hour later he finally showed up with the main course but still no salad which should have been served prior to the main course. The quality of the food was under par for the price. The garlic mashed potatos had so much garlic my wife could not eat them and the vegetables on my plate were not fresh. The kicker was when we were ready for the bill, I sat at the table for another 20 minutes waiting for him to bring the bill before I just walked back inside the restaurant to hunt him down. It was another 15 minutes before I got the bill. I couldn't wait to pay and get out of that place. It was an awful experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We really liked going to the poop deck, however, our waitress Janet said that the hog snapper was $48.00 and it was big. So two of us decided to split the fish and there was a $48.00 CHARGE for both of us. We didn't notice that night and went back the next day and asked about the bill and we were told that the hog snapper was an $85.00 fish. We were a little disappointed in the cost of the fish, our meal for three people was very expensive.

We loved the feeling we got right off the back walking into the restaurant. It has a nice lively feel to it, both in the separate bar area and the dining floor. The bartender definitely knew his trade and whipped us up some great local cocktails & tropical drinks. The dining was excellent. Salmon, grouper, lobster tails & lamb dishes were our dishes and each and everyone one of us cleaned our plates down to the last morsel. Great place to go while on vacation in Nassau. It definitely added to our "vacation feeling" mode!

The Poop Deck was recommended to us by our taxi driver. We went on a Wednesday night, had no wait and were seated immediately. Beautiful restaurant. We were dressed more casually than most of the diners, but no one seemed to care. Service was excellent. Waiter was very attentive. Several of us enjoyed the Fisherman's Platter and lobster tail; garlic cream sauce and mashed potatoes were to die for! No room for dessert! Prices were a little less than what we expected and well worth it.

We spent New Year's Eve with 10 friends and wanted to wait till midnight fireworks (view of all hotel fireworks from the restaurant). Apparently, the staff wanted to leave early. The waiter served the entree while some had not finished the appetizer... At 10 PM, he came to us to inform that the kitchen was closed and that we could not order desserts... then he stood up next to our table, waiting us to pay and leave. We left at 10:30PM and saw th fireworks from another place. I leave not far from Poop Deck and I will never EVER come back.

We ate at the PoopDeck SandyPort and thought the food was delicious. The lobster & steak dishes we had were cooked just right. We had outdoor seating by the beach front with beautiful views of the crystal clear Bahamian water. Being from Montreal and now living in Manhattan, I would put this restaurant right up there with my favorites!

We visited Nassau for a week and ate at the Poop Deck SandyPort a few times as the scenery overlooking the beach was beautiful and the food and service was consistently great. Their hog snapper dish was delicious. I had it twice. The lobster was cooked just right and may even be better than Maine lobster which I have always loved. The friendly service definitely also kept us going back. We can't wait until next year when we can indulge once again.

We had heard about the Poop Deck from all of the natives we met, that was a great sign for us, when we arrived we were asked if we wanted to dine inside, outside on the patio or on the beach we went for the beach. What a amasing place, my whife had a huge fresh lobster, I had the other catch of the day a hog snapper, they both the best we ever had. Dinner on the beach, fresh seafood, that is what dinning in the Bahamas is all about. Great job Poop Deck Jim
