The Garden of the Groves

Description

Equal parts jungle, zoo and romantic hideaway, this 11-acre property is home to some of Grand Bahama's most exotic wildlife. Macaws, alligators and iguanas are just a few of the animals you'll see. At the petting zoo, kids or adults can get to know pot-bellied pigs and pigmy goats. The romantic side of the Garden can be found under a waterfall or in the shade of a tropical fruit tree. Quite a few couples have chosen to tie the knot here—or to re-pledge their troth. Admission is USD9.95 for adults and USD6.95 for children under 10.

waste of money
By ,
While the staff here was very kind, the place has changed so much. I had been here before any hurricanes came through the Bahamas and is was beautiful and full of life. Now it is quite the opposite, it's not very full of life and there isn't very much left. Plus we had to pay $16/person just to walk around and see mostly dead plants and only caged birds, not to mention all the mosquitoes there!!

Paradise -- a must-see!
By ,
This oasis has been completely re-done since being devestated by the big hurricanes a few years ago. It has a wonderful cafe under a tree canopy (excellent menu and everything cooked on the grill), stunning vegetation, wildlife, waterfalls, all lovingly looked after by the staff; and now they are building some lovely quaint little shops with locally produced art and such. There's even a delightful little church up on the hill. Don't miss it!

Wonderful place!
By ,
Our trip to The Garden of the Groves was unexpected. Our regular shore excursion had been cancelled due to rough water, and our tour guide took us here. The Garden recently reopened in Oct 2008. It had been closed since the round of hurricanes in 2004. The natural beauty of the islands are intesified here. Flora and Fauna abound. It was very relaxing and serene. The narrator was wonderful and gave a lot of insight to the history of the gardens as well as the Freeport area. I think this was the best part of my 7 day cruise.

Newly reopened and it is really worth visiting. The outdoor restaurant is super. Plan on spending at least half a day here.

More Security Lights.
By ,
I was at your establishment ,the service was excellent and the atmosphere perfect. I have one complaint, we noticed your have three security officers on the property that is great, but we feel the parking lot should have more lights. We really enjoyed the night.

stunning

this place is amazing. it is a pretty accurate depiction of the wildlife in the bahamas. it is also a beautiful place to have a special event like a wedding. It is suitable for kids as well as couples. It's not just animals but also waterfalls, and natural postcard scenery
