Negative people, waste of vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/10
Very poor service at Xanadu. They commonly leave the office, and won't address your complaints, and I did have a few of those. Beach is dirty. When you call the office, they will put you on hold for a long time. Once, I called the office from the cell right outside the door. Guess what, I watched a woman at the desk pick up the phone, put me on hold, then leave the office, locking it up. I experienced more hostility than hospitality. Will never come back there

Will not be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/10
My wife and I came to Bahamas for a two week vacation, what we got out of it was less than desired. Beaches are very nice, but Xanadu is a place more interested in getting your money. It has fairly glamorous exterior with pretty sad interior. You might be lucky enough to get descent accomodations, unfortunately, there is only few good once available. Once those are rented out, you are stuck with pretty nasty choices. Suggestion: if you go there don't make reservations, untill you can see what you are paying for, or you will buy a cat in a bag.

Great spring break hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/08
We stayed here during spring break 2008 and loved it. The place was sold out with spring breakers. They have bonfire beach parties at night and the clubs were in walking distance. The beach area was gorgeous, most beautiful water and beach area I have ever seen. We didn't feel the need to get a cab anywhere, everyone took cabs to our hotel during the day.

Hands down best vacation ever!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/08
This place was 10x better than any hotel I've ever stayed at. The whole theme of the place and location was really cool. They have kind of a tropical jungle theme in the lobby with aquariums behind the check-in desk, big plants and trees everywhere, mahogany wood and marble everywhere. The rooms were really spacious, larger than your average hotel room with balconies that look out over the ocean. Best beach location ever. Incredible water and tons of water sports and clubs you can walk too. We had a blast!

I really want to go there!
By Lauren, 6/9/08
I love to ride in boats and I know how to dive them, so I would really want to go there. I would really love to take my family and me there because we all love activities like the ones there.

Great for Divers, Big value for small $
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/3/08
Just a word to be honest. I booked the Hotel and afterwards found reviews at travelguides that are describing the hotel as ruin and third world opportunity. I was afraid what I'll meet while being there but... This hotel is a GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!! It's a former 5 Star hotel build by Howard Hughes ( The Aviator) and was the first 5 Star hotel on the Island. Today the glory is a bit gone and it is still a good Standard hotel where you get a great value for your money. Rooms are tidy spacious. Best of all there is a dive operation just at the hotel. When you walk out of the hotel you just go 100yards and you are ready to see the beautiful underwater world of the Bahamas. The Staff at the hotel is Great and very friendly (Marco the Bartender will provide the best cocktails for getting lost). The Beach is one of the Best on the island and the Grill and bar deliver drinks and some simple stuff to enjoy the stomach after a good dive. Dive Crew of the XANADU Underwater Adventure is great. Thanks to Ray the Divemaster and Thomas DIvemaster and Owner (he's German). They delivered the great dive package for reasonable price. Don't miss Shark Alley. So all in all I'll be back next year. So forget all about the lousy reviews. It semms that those peoples are hired by other hotels. Joerg ( Jay)

Best place there, no question about it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/07
This is by far(in my opinion) the best hotel on the island. I think anyone would have to agree the location is definately the best. The ocean and beach is superb. Our rooms were great. The food at the hotel was good, and at the restaurants around the hotel. Great nightlife. Theres a great top40 club and a salsa/latin dance club in walking distance. There were some other bars and clubs there too, but we didn't have time to hit them all. Casino was great too.

Breakers best bet.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/07
We had alot of fun here during spring break 07. They had alot of stuff going on. Concerts on the beach. Booze cruises going out every couple of hours. They had bonfire beach parties at night which was awesome. There was also some great clubs around the resort that you could walk to. Food was pretty good at the hotel. It was all spring breakers when we went. I don't think I saw anybody over 30 there. Nice rooms too. Good view off the balcony.

In a word...INCREDIBLE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/07
The location was outstanding. Best beach hotel I have ever stayed at. Rooms were bigger than average and very clean and nice. Water was like bathtub water, clear and shallow. You can walk to just about everything you would want to do. You can rent stuff for watersports there like wave runners, and power boats. Really cool!
