Formed in 1980, the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS) works to protect the natural, cultural and historical fabric of the island. The organisation is supported by local donations, grants, and fundraising efforts. The NHCS runs shops at both island museums, selling books and locally-made crafts. The group also works to maintain genealogical records on the island and has archives, which can be used for research. The group produces a regular newsletter and has published local booklets.
