Numerous times per year, particularly on holiday weekends, the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club sponsors horseracing. Sometimes exciting, often amusing, horse races on Nevis are not to be missed. You can place bets (XEC5 or about USD2 per wager) and if you're lucky maybe earn back your original bet. The horses usually run alone, but sometimes are challenged by donkeys, heep and goats invading the track, causing some disturbance and amusement at the same time. Afterwards, folks usually stick around for some BBQ chicken, a few Caribs (local brew) and music spun by a local DJ.
